Logistics Company Cloud Transformation
National Logistics Provider UAE
Project Overview
A national logistics provider with operations across all 7 Emirates was running 40+ applications on scattered on-premises servers in 3 different locations, with no disaster recovery capability. System outages occurred monthly, each costing an estimated AED 200K in delayed shipments and manual workarounds. The company needed a cloud transformation that would deliver reliability, scalability, and a platform for innovation.
We executed a comprehensive cloud transformation to AWS, starting with a detailed application discovery and dependency mapping exercise. Applications were categorised into re-host, re-platform, and re-architect groups based on business criticality and modernisation potential. The core TMS (Transport Management System) was re-architected as a cloud-native application with real-time shipment tracking, automated dispatch, and a driver mobile app.
Post-migration, the logistics company operates a fully redundant multi-AZ architecture on AWS with automated backups, disaster recovery with 15-minute RPO, and infrastructure-as-code deployment using Terraform. The real-time tracking platform processes GPS updates from 500+ vehicles every 30 seconds, and customers can track their shipments through a self-service portal. Operational resilience transformed from monthly outages to 99.95% uptime.

The Challenge
40+ applications spread across 3 on-premises locations with no DR capability. Monthly outages costing AED 200K each, no real-time shipment visibility, and inability to scale for peak seasons like Ramadan and Black Friday.
Our Solution
We migrated 40+ applications to AWS with a multi-AZ architecture, re-architected the TMS for cloud-native operation, built real-time tracking for 500+ vehicles, and implemented DR with 15-minute RPO.
Key Features
Multi-AZ AWS architecture with automated failover
Cloud-native TMS with real-time dispatch and tracking
GPS tracking for 500+ vehicles with 30-second updates
Customer self-service shipment tracking portal
Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform
Disaster recovery with 15-minute RPO
Technologies Used

Results & Impact
Uptime improved from ~96% to 99.95%
Outage-related losses eliminated (AED 2.4M annual saving)
Real-time tracking deployed for 500+ vehicles
Infrastructure provisioning reduced from weeks to minutes
“We went from dreading every server room power cut to running a world-class cloud operation. Our customers now track shipments in real-time, and we haven't had a significant outage since the migration. Nastrum's cloud team is exceptional.”
